Update: Time With God Challenge

At the beginning of August, I shared a blog post in regards to a challenge that was laid upon my heart. The challenge consisted of not going on any social media handles. I mean absolutely nothing. Some of the social media handles include YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Pinterest and etc. This challenge has been so interesting by far. So the month of August is coming to an end, so I just wanted to update you guys on how this challenge has been for me.

At the start of the challenge, I felt that it would be difficult for me since I was including YouTube in this challenge. Everything else for the most part was not as difficult as YouTube. Weeks have passed by and I’m so glad to say that this challenge has been going great. It’s been a time well spent in the presence of God. A time of refreshing looking at the clouds, listening to the birds chirp, writing, listening to worship music on Spotify since YouTube is not allowed in this challenge. This challenge is doable, I promise you. When I started this challenge, I only told one of my friends. Though this challenge is about to be over, you are still welcomed to partake in this blessing. I pray that you are blessed. This challenge may seem difficult because you are so used to being on social media, but I promise you that you can do it. There’s a time for everything. There’s nothing that is impossible with God.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” -John 15:5

My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. -Proverbs 3

PODCASTS TO TUNE INTO ❤️

Happy Monday. Welcome to another week in August. I hope that you are all doing well. If not, I pray that things get better for you. God is with you. In today’s blog post, I have created a list of podcasts that I personally listen to throughout the week. Let’s be honest, I can’t listen to each podcast everyday but these are the ones I listen to for the most part. They have been a blessing unto me. I pray that they will be a blessing unto you. If you have an IPhone, there’s an app that comes with the phone titled podcasts. There, you can search for all these amazing podcasts. If you have an Android, you can search to see if these podcasts are available. You can listen to some of these podcasts on YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud and etc. May you learn and take away something from these podcasts I have enlisted for you all. Feel free to share any on the comment section or leave a comment if you do take the time to listen to any of these podcasts. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Have a blessed week. Until next time, stay blessed and rooted in Christ 🙏🏿😊

My Verse of the week:  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:6-8

Time With God Challenge

image-2.jpg

August I see you. You have arrived quicker than quick. Seven whole months have passed by the grace of God. God has seen us through these past months. Only the living can praise God. What an Awesome God we serve. In this month of August, I want to challenge you to go off all social media handles which includes Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter and etc. Let this month be you and God. If you want to listen to music, you can download it on your phone or use Pandora or Spotify. You can watch shows but honestly if you can go without it, feel free to do so. If you do watch shows, let it be glorifying to God. Yes, we are on the third day of the month but you can still partake in this challenge.

Initially, I was suppose to partake in this challenge in July but I was too busy posting verses that were laid upon my heart and other materials on social media. It’s a blessing to pour into people but there comes a time when we have to make room for the Holy Spirit to pour into us. There are so many distractions in this world. There are so many things vying for our attention but we must learn to fix our eyes on Jesus. This challenge was laid upon my heart for the month of July but I have started this challenge this month. It’s been refreshing. It was a bit hard because I’m so used to going on YouTube to watch shows like Skinny Girls In Transit & Rumour Has It. I spend most times listening to praise and worship for the most part but I wasn’t ready for this challenge. I was ready and excited to deactivate everything else but Youtube was a tough one. For now, I don’t mind using Spotify to listen to music but many times, it takes time before the song you want to listen to even plays but it’s not been a problem since I started the challenge. I’m not worried about what worship song plays first. I am ready to praise the Living God. This is a personal challenge for myself but I shared it with a friend and she said she’ll be partaking in it too. Feel free to partake in this challenge. This will not be my last time doing this challenge. It’s actually the first of many to come. I’ve titled it “Time With God Challenge”

The challenge consists of you reading your Bible every day. You can meditate on a verse each week. You can start a devotional in the Holy Bible App by yourself or with a friend. You can only listen to praise and worship. For myself, this is not hard but for some people, it can be difficult. Pray about it and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you. Start studying a book in the Bible. Have a notebook to take down notes . Pray before you start each study. You can also purchase a journal where you can write prayers to God. You can also buy a book for the month. I am currently reading Lead Me, Holy Spirit by Stormie Omartian. I have been reading this book since May 8th. 2018. It’s a book I’ll highly recommend. It’s not a book to be rushed. There’s so much to learn from the Holy Spirit. Remember this is your time with God. Don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of you seeking God. Feel free to ask your friends to partake in this challenge. We are currently on Day 3 of our challenge and it has been a blessing. I pray that as you partake in this challenge that God will reveal Himself to you in a new and special way. I pray that you will grow deeper in your relationship with God and that you will hunger and thirst for righteousness.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I pray that you were blessed. Continue to abide and stay rooted in Christ. Jesus loves you 😊

Happy Father’s Day

Dear God,

I thank you for this day. Thank you for gracing us with your one and only Son Jesus. I am grateful for your precious gift. Lord, I thank you for your sons here on Earth and for those who you have called home. Today is not an easy day for many of your children so Lord I have come as I am asking that your hands will rest upon each and everyone of your children. Every hurt, pain and tear, we surrender unto you. Your word reminds us that you are a “ father to the fatherless, a defender of widows” (Psalm 68:5) You are the greatest comforter. You are our source of peace. I pray for anyone reading this that you will find rest in Christ alone. For as many whose father’s are alive but are absent in their lives, I ask their Lord for your love and forgiveness to overflow in their relationship. Lord, I ask that they will reconcile with their Father’s. Let your will be done. For those whose father’s are present, may they cherish every moment with their fathers. For those whose father’s are no longer here with them, may your hands touch their hearts. May they experience your love in a deeper and fresh way daily. Father, I pray and ask that you will raise up a generation of men who will be leaders in their home but also in every areas of their lives; men who aren’t afraid of praying and professing your word. Heavenly Father, I ask that you will strengthen your sons. I ask that you will shoulder their burdens and draw them closer to your presence. May they have intimacy with you all the days of their lives. May they never lose sight of who you are. I pray that you will give each of your sons peace, wisdom and knowledge in every decision that they have to make. Your word remind us that “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7).  Father, I thank you every one of your sons. May you bless and sustain them each and every day of their life. In Jesus name, Amen.

With love,

Your Child

Happy Father’s Day to every father around the world. You are loved. You are appreciated. You are special. Have a wonderful day. God loves you 🙂

“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” ~Joshua 24:15

Start Reading!

Education doesn’t end in the classroom. The month of April is almost over. What book are you currently reading? So for me, I am reading “Through The Eyes Of A Lion” by Levi Lusko. He shared his testimony while I attended Hillsong Church. It was a blessing and it led me to purchase his book immediately. I bought his book in November 2016 and I’m now reading it. Why? Well I was in college. Though I read while in college, I didn’t get to read this precious book. I’m almost finished. It’s a sad book but yet contains so many nuggets. The books enlisted are the ones I’ve read for the past three months. I’m getting my book ready for the Month of May. God is doing a new thing. My word for this year is Consistency. I will stay focused and not lose sight of what God is doing in my life and around me. It’s very important for us to read. There’s always something to learn when we expand our horizons. You learn so much through other people’s experiences. You don’t always have to wait to be in the situation to have knowledge on how to approach it. There are people who have been through the trials we have faced. They don’t write to share their experiences just for the sake of it. They write to help us when we are also faced with a similar trial. Many times, we can take reading for granted. We don’t value it. If it’s not a requirement for a college assignment, we don’t consider it to be a priority. As a child, my father would always take us to the library to pick up a book. He always taught me the importance of having a dictionary. When you don’t understand a word, look in the dictionary. When you read, you enhance your vocabulary. Though, I don’t always pick up a dictionary, I google the word to get the meaning. I admit that they have been times when I just overlook the word but for the most part, I carry the words my father taught me as a child. So my suggestion for you today is consider reading a book every month, If you haven’t started, it’s not too late. Look for a book on Amazon or pick up a book at your library. Join the fun and adventure :).

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. Feel free to leave any book recommendations for me. Jesus loves you. Have a lovely day 🙂

Happy New Year

“Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant.

If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.

Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.

Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.” -Ecclesiastes 11:4-6

Happy New Year. I hope this year will be a prosperous year for you and your loved ones. It’s going to be a great year. It’s all about perspective. Trials will come. They are part of life but you must learn to lean on God. May this new year be filled with joy, love, peace and many of God’s bountiful blessings. May you grow deeper in your walk with God. May you draw nearer unto Him each and every day. May you hunger and thirst for more of righteousness.

It’s a new year. Change your mindset and you will see changes. Do your part and God will take care of the rest. We are reminded in Romans 12:2 that “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” If we continue to dwell on the things of the past and what didn’t work out, who left our lives and etc, we would not see what God is doing in this new season of our lives. It is a brand new day/year. Let God be the center of your life. Seek Him in all your ways and I promise, things will never be the same.

Until next time, stay blessed & lovely 🙂

The Transition

Where do I even start? I’m lost with words about the journey. My heart is filled with gratitude but at the same time it’s bittersweet moment. I believe that sometimes, we don’t know where we are going until we reach our destination. I have so many emotions right now as I write this post, but for the most part I’m bittersweet. In a few weeks, I will be graduating with a degree in Public Health/Certificate in Child Advocacy. Being in university, has been awesome. The trials turned into testimonies. All I can say is thank you God. I’m so grateful for all the amazing people God allowed me to cross paths with on this journey. If I were to write about my journey, I will be here forever. I will end up even crying. I have shed enough tears these past few days;  tears of joy. It’s been a blessing. God has been faithful.

Snippet of the journey: When I graduated from high school, I was originally supposed to go straight to a four-year college. Things didn’t work out so I ended up attending a community college. To be honest, the process of applying to college and filling out Fafsa was something I had to do on my own. My parent’s didn’t go to college so their understanding of the process wasn’t vast. Fast forward, I attended community college for three years, graduated then transferred to another University. Honestly, attending a community college was a good decision because I got to save money. College is fun but stressful too. After transferring to a new school, it was hard because the first few weeks, you don’t really know anyone. It can get lonely when people around you like your roommate have already made friends and you are just chilling in your room. As time progress, you will meet people. Making friends your first or second week is fine but I believe that it’s good to get to know people before you call them your friends. You have be mindful of the people you call your friends. Knowing the difference between friend and associate will help you big time on this journey called life.

Pros of being a college student:

  1. I loved the different organizations/events that were held on campus.
  2. The opportunity to live on campus
  3. Being able to connect with my sisters/brothers in Christ
  4. Have a good relationship with my professors/shuttle drivers
  5. I enjoyed the classes that I took besides statistics because Math is not my cup of tea.
  6. Meeting international student 🙂
  7. Going to retreats with InterVarsity (I’m going to miss it)
  8. Being apart of Cru & InterVarsity/other organizations
  9. The friends God has blessed me with. (Grateful).
  10. Being able to meet people on campus.

Cons of being a college student:

  1. Having so many assignments to complete.
  2. Financial aid issues
  3. Taking a shuttle from one place to another.
  4. Roommate issues
  5. Not having a variety of food places.

Overall, college life was amazing. To be honest, college is what you make it. I made the most out of it. I’m beyond grateful for the souls God allowed me to meet. You every meet someone and wonder, where have you been all my life? Yup. That is how I felt about the people I met. I’m grateful for the journey. Though, it’s bittersweet and the days are drawing near, the memories will forever live on. Make the most out of each day you are given. Embrace the season that you are in. Focus on your goals but never forget God in the process. He is the reason for it all. Without God, I am Nothing. My family, friends and loved ones have played a huge role on this journey. I’m thankful for them all.

Note from me to you:

No matter where you are on your journey, seek God. Draw nearer to him. Embrace the season that you are in. Create memories. Don’t rush the process. Cherish every moment. These years of being in college will never be the same after you graduate. Reality hits and you may not see your friends in years. In order to maintain the friendship, both parties have to do their parts. Life is a journey and sometimes, certain doors have to close for new ones to open. Even though, I’m not sure of what lies ahead, I know who goes before me and behind me. One thing I know for sure, is that when God is in it, everything will work out in his timing, according to his will. God’s plans for me/us are of good. I’m going to miss being in college. Walking to class, working alongside with my classmates, partaking in different organizations, getting free shirts from events and just the feeling of being a college student. To everyone who walked along with me through this journey, thank you. I’m grateful for you. I appreciate you. God bless you. 🙂

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. -Isaiah 43:19

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. -Joshua 1:9

Until next time, stay rooted in Christ. Keep on pressing on. Don’t give up on yourself/God. Everything will work for you. Take things one day at a time. Stay Blessed & Encouraged. Jesus loves you 🙂
