Wellspring of Wisdom πŸ“Œ

Wisdom is a deep well of understanding opened up within you as a fountain of life for others, but it’s senseless to try to instruct a fool. -Proverbs 16:22

There is a purpose to everything that God gives unto man. One of the many gifts that God has given unto man is wisdom. Wisdom is essential for every day living. Wisdom is not reserved for certain seasons and situations. It is a necessity for the soul. Throughout the Bible, we are given many examples of Bible characters who applied wisdom in different situations.

Here are a few examples of some Bible characters that displayed wisdom.

  1. Solomon: King Solomon is renowned for his extraordinary wisdom. He is best known for his judgment in the story of the two women claiming to be the mother of the same child (1 Kings 3:16-28).
  2. Daniel: Daniel was a wise and devout prophet. He interpreted dreams and visions, and his wisdom was highly regarded by kings such as Nebuchadnezzar and Darius (Daniel 2, Daniel 6).
  3. Joseph: Joseph, the son of Jacob, displayed great wisdom throughout his life. He interpreted dreams and rose to a position of authority in Egypt, where he played a vital role in preparing for the famine (Genesis 37-50).
  4. Job: Despite facing immense suffering, Job maintained his faith and displayed profound wisdom in his conversations with his friends and with God (Book of Job).
  5. Moses: Moses was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. He demonstrated wisdom in guiding the people, resolving disputes, and receiving divine laws on Mount Sinai (Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy).
  6. David: King David was known for his wisdom in both military and administrative matters. He wrote many of the Psalms, which reflect his deep understanding of human nature and God’s character (2 Samuel, Psalms).
  7. Solomon’s mother: In 1 Kings 3:16-28, an unnamed woman is praised for her wisdom in solving a dispute between two women claiming to be the mother of the same child.
  8. Paul: The apostle Paul, although initially a persecutor of Christians, later became a pivotal figure in the early Christian church. His letters in the New Testament showcase his wisdom and theological insights (Epistles of Paul).
  9. Jesus: As the Son of God, Jesus displayed profound wisdom in his teachings, parables, and interactions with others. His wisdom and authority were widely recognized during his earthly ministry (New Testament Gospels). And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” This verse indicates Jesus’ growth in wisdom as He matured. ( Luke 2:52 )

As a child of God, we can ask God for wisdom as it written in James 1:5 and it will given unto us. Scripture also tells of of two kinds of wisdom which is found in James 3:13-18. We need wisdom. We cannot operate trying to do things without seeking the Holy Spirit for wisdom. There maybe things in our lives that may seem like it’s just common sense but still yet we need wisdom. Without wisdom, a house can be chaotic. There needs to be a foundation and unless the Lord builds it, it will be in vain. It is my prayer that in everything that you do, you will seek the wisdom of God. You can never have too much wisdom that comes from God. We serve a God who is able to do and give more than we can ask, think or imagine. That’s Our God and He longs for us to seek His face. So seek and let the fountain of wisdom overflow in your life.
