Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. -James 1:17
I want to start by saying Happy Mother’s Day to every woman all around the world. We, women are clothed in strength, love, resilience and so much more.
re•sil•ient: able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult situations.
Today has been quite an interesting day and I can’t help but share with you all. It all began this morning during my prayer session. As we all know it is Mother’s Day. It is a special day. As I was praying, my heart was heavy particularly in the area of women who cannot conceive due to various reasons, those who have lost their mothers and for children who do not have a good relationship with their mother. Throughout this week, I met a customer who shared her story with me about not being able to conceive. She has been married for a while and the doctors have done their test and it has been made clear to her that she cannot conceive. So it was quite interesting how this subject of women not conceiving was upon Spirit this morning. After my prayer time, I got prepared for church. The rain was pouring hard but that did not stop me from going into the presence of God. I have to say that at times, I get to church a little late due to transportation. Anyway, so I arrived and my first stop always before entering the sanctuary is the bathroom. I have to make sure that I wee wee before I enter the sanctuary because honestly I don’t like leaving once I’ve entered. As I entered, praise and worship was taking place. I was escorted to my seat by one of the ushers of course. The choir was ministering the song “Indescribable“. As I was worshiping, the only words that was on my heart was “The Resilient Woman”. I wrote it down in my note section of my phone. Praise and worship was over.
Now, it was time for the announcements. Today was a special service designated to all mothers, women and sisters. After the announcements, the MC of the service came on stage. And then he said, the theme for this Mother’s Day service is “The Resilient Woman”. All I said was Wow. The girl sitting next to me “Kemi” said what’s wrong. I then told her that during worship, that was the same exact words that the Lord laid upon my heart. She then said “Girl you are in the spirit”. We kept talking about this and we rejoiced in our corner. I share this to say that “God Still Speaks”. He doesn’t just speak to a certain group of people but know that He speaks to all His children but we must learn to be yielded to the Holy Spirit. God will never force us into His presence but He will always be Present. In John 15, we are reminded that Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches. Apart from Him, we can bear no fruit. We are His sheep and He alone is the Shepherd. In John 10:27, we are reminded that God’s sheep hear His voice. It is written “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.” God is not far fetched. He is nearer than we think and so much closer like the next breathe we will take.
As we celebrate all the mothers, all around the world, don’t forget to lift up those who are going through so much pain. We, women go through so much but like rubber band, we bounce right back. There are many wounds that are open but as we know it is God who heals the broken-hearted. Below is a list of categories of different women, you can pray for today, tomorrow and the days ahead.
Categories of people you can pray for:
- Women who have been abused
- Women who are trusting God for a child
- Women who struggle to love again after being hurt in multiple relationships
- Daughters who don’t have a good relationship with their mothers
- Women who are hurting and are broken-hearted.
- Mothers who are struggling to raise their child on their own.
- Women who are just tired of life.
- Women who feel forgotten
As you take the time to lift up these women in your prayers, may God also answer your own prayers. Every woman is a gift. They are precious and unique to God. This gift that cannot be exchanged. Your mother is a gift. No matter how your mother is, she will always be your mother. No one can take the place of your mother. She may not have been there all this while but please find it in your heart to forgive. Forgive your mother because she is not perfect. Forgive her just as Christ forgave you. Allow God to mend your hearts to become one again. From your mothers womb, you came into this world. Love her, cherish her and remember always that she will always be your mother through thick and thin. It’s Mother’s Day. Celebrate the Queen in your life and know that you are beautiful, loved and strong. God loves you. Continue to be you and know that you are worth fighting for. 💐😊
